2011 Shiraz Viognier

Shiraz Viognier 2011

The most challenging year we have had to deal with, several blocks were left unpicked as they were not going to achieve the standard required.

Managing mildew and botrytis in the vineyard was a major undertaking. Sprays were carefully timed and mercifully, the tractors didn’t get bogged.

The fruit was hand-picked with great care between April 19 and April 30. Very few ferments had whole bunches/stems included. Slightly less new oak used (28%). 5% Viognier.

Just over 1000 dozen bottled – less than half the average volume. No Syrah made this year.

Some argue this is Australia's greatest red wine, it is certainly one of the greatest Shirazs
