Clonakilla Syrah seeks to capture the essence of pure Shiraz planted in the red-brown clays over the deep granitic subsoils in our cool estate vineyard here in Murrumbateman. Taken from the top section of T&L Block One it is made very simply: a single fermenter filled with whole berries fermented by their own native yeasts, a full month on skins then just under two years in tight grained French oak. In a warm year like 2019 it produces the most powerful wine in our portfolio.
