2021 Pinot Noir

Clonakilla is a family winery, established in 1971. Our wines draw their character from the granite soils and cool, continental climate of the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales.

The Pinot is lovingly made in tiny quantities. It’s a blend of fruit from an acre of vines on the T&L block (clones 777, 115, 667, Abel, Pommard) and the old, unidentified clone planted by John Kirk at Clonakilla in 1978.

“We have a really good wine on our hands here” – Mike Bennie

The cool 2021 vintage suited our Pinot vines down to the ground. I’m delighted with this wine.

Pinot noir from the Canberra region’s best producer.

This is a really interesting wine. It’s complex – undergrowth and macerated cherry flavours come rolled with woodsy spice and cedar-smoke – but there’s a candied fruit aspect sitting in the highlights, which helps give the wine breadth and more.

We have a really good wine on our hands here

I looked at this wine over the course of 24 hours or so and it remained tight throughout, but it continued to blossom. We have a really good wine on our hands here. The pitch of its smoky-sweet-minted-undergrowthy-sourness is just right.

Mike Bennie, Winefront

Deepish red colour with a good purple rim. The bouquet is dark cherry and blackberry with a hint of cassis, the wine is soft and rich, full and round on the tongue.

This is a charming pinot.

Fruit-sweet at the heart, rich and supple, with a long lasting aftertaste. This is a charming pinot.
