Every year at Clonakilla we fill a single fermenter with pure Shiraz from the higher portion of our North-East facing T&L vineyard. Whole berries are fermented warm by their own native yeasts. The wine spends a month macerating on skins and twenty-two months in French oak puncheons.
“Stunning. Beautiful wine to drink.” – Mike Bennie, Winefront
The weather leading up to vintage 2019 was marked by lower than average rainfall in Winter and Spring. Two rain events in January came just in time, delivering 110 mm between them.
The grapes ripened majestically and were picked in perfect condition on March 6.
The 2019 Syrah is a benchmark for this label.
